This past year has seen a Cambrian explosion of activity in the AI world. From DALL-E and MidJourney to GPT and Bard, the field of artificial intelligence has seen significant growth and innovation in the past year.

What happens when the power of machine learning intersects with the power of web3? Great question. That’s exactly what we’ll be exploring in our two-part series, The Dawn of a New Asset Class.

In part one here, we’ll be investigating why we believe that AI will unleash a golden age of NFTs. In part two, we’ll show you how FSL is empowering creators all around the world with our latest generative NFT tool, helping unleash creativity and democratizing art and web3. Let’s dive in!

A Whole New Asset Class

First, let’s look briefly at how NFTs shifted the paradigm back when it first came onto the scene.

As a one-of-a-kind digital asset that cannot be replicated or exchanged, non-fungible tokens brought the digital world a whole new kind of scarcity that has never existed before. This gave rise to an entirely new asset class that can be bought, sold, and traded on various blockchain platforms.

Now, with the power of AI, the web3 world may well be on the cusp of yet another new asset class.

Why is this combination so powerful? Let us explain.

AI solves NFT problems

There are a number of challenges in the web3 world that AI has the potential to fill in for.

We believe that AI will unleash a golden age of NFT utility. As we’ve worked closely with different founders and teams through our MOOAR launchpads, we’ve found an emerging trend.

It is very rare to find founders who are well-versed and have gold-standard competencies across all areas of marketing, content, art, community building, and more. Many people are jack-of-all-trades, but it can be difficult to excel in every single area.

AI frees creators from the grunt work to hone in on what they do best. For example, before AI a creator might need to focus on crafting incredible artwork… and branding… and marketing… and rounding up a team to do all this for them — this takes up considerable time and resources. And it leaves creators with less energy that they can dedicate towards being creative and weaving in utility to their products.

But with generative AI tools, creators can catalyze a massive chunk of their work across all these areas — artwork, storytelling and content, and more — and empower them to focus on utility. And NFT utility, as we’ve written about before, is crucial to projects’ success; in many ways, we believe it underlies the future of NFTs. Indeed, AI will empower teams and founders, giving them the precious time and resources to do what they do best.

NFTs solve AI problems

Meanwhile, the other way around, there are a number of ways that NFTs can solve emerging problems in the AI space.

IP is a key concern. With the rapid growth of AI-generated content, it can be challenging to protect the intellectual property rights of creators. NFTs can provide a standardized and secure way to prove ownership and protect the intellectual property of AI-generated content.

Data privacy is another crucial area. AI algorithms require large amounts of data to learn and improve, but this data often contains sensitive information that needs to be protected. NFTs can be used to represent and exchange data in a secure and private manner, providing a way for data owners to control access and usage of their data.

This leads us to our next area of potential — monetization. NFTs can be used to create new revenue streams for AI creators and researchers. By tokenizing AI-generated content, creators can sell their work directly to buyers, bypassing traditional intermediaries and earning a larger share of the revenue.

Closing Thoughts

The intersection of AI and NFTs is a profoundly unique opportunity to create a whole new asset class that could transform the world of digital ownership and creativity.

With the power of AI, creators can leverage generative tools to automate many of the tedious tasks associated with marketing, content creation, and community building, allowing them to focus on the core of their creativity and utility.

At the same time, NFTs can provide a standardized and secure way to protect the intellectual property rights of AI-generated content, ensure data privacy, and create new revenue streams for AI creators.

As we move into this exciting new era, the possibilities are endless — the only limit is our own imagination. In our next series, we’ll explore how this marriage between these two powerful technologies could unlock a whole new world of creativity and innovation, and how we’re using it to further our mission of democratizing web3.
